Code of Conduct

The library has been designated a Quiet Zone. Disruptive behavior includes (but is not limited to):

• Loud talking,
• Swearing or using profane or obscene language or gesturers,
• Shouting, screaming, running, throwing things,
• Pushing and shoving,
• Playing audio equipment,
• Or anything that seriously disturbs others or offers potential danger or damage to persons or library property.

Any conduct that unreasonably interferes with another’s use of the library, including physical or verbal harassment or threats to other users or staff will not be tolerated.

• You will be warned once.

• If the behavior continues you will be asked to leave.

• If necessary, the police will be called.

In order to make the library property a clean, safe and hospitable environment:

·Food is prohibited in the library. See ‘Meeting Rooms’ to make reservations for the Lewis and Clark Room.

·Bottled drinks or drinks in covered, hard plastic containers with lids are allowed. Please, NO PAPER/STYROFOAM cups with or without lids or pop/soda CANS.

·Cell phone Courtesy in the library - Polite phone use permitted.

·        Silent Ringers

·        Soft Voices

·        Short Conversations

·  Smoking or use of smokeless tobacco is prohibited on campus.

·  All Animals other than guide dogs or other service animals are prohibited on campus.

·  No weapons or threatening objects will be allowed in the Library. A warming to leave will be issued and police will be called.

·  Sexual misconduct, such as exposure, offensive touching or sexual harassment of other users or staff will not be tolerated and the police will be called to assist with any suspected offense immediately.

·  Use of alcoholic beverages or illegal substances is prohibited.

·  Disruptive or unsafe behavior that results in disturbing other users or damaging Library property will not be tolerated. Consequences of such actions include a warning to leave and the police will be called.

·  Engaging in any activity prohibited by law or any other conduct that unreasonably interferes with another’s use of the Library including physical or verbal harassment or threats to other users or staff will not be tolerated. This includes Internet usage.

·  Begging, soliciting, selling or handing out leaflets without prior approval from Student Services is prohibited.
